An excerpt from the Artist’s Statement:

Personally, painting is a silent but powerful language. It’s a way of communication between the inner and the outside world in my life. Art itself represents the purpose of my life and my presence here on this planet. Art is a gateway between reality and the spiritual world. I definitely believe that spiritual doors and gates, which are either positive or negative, can be opened by art. A positive spiritual impression from art is a power that can influence someone in need positively.

There are three main characters in my paintings. First of all, my art’s purpose is to bring luminosity into the darkness. I want my art to be a certain light to the world. Just like a beam passes through a prism and divides into numerous rainbow colors, I want my art to come from light, and make a rainbow into people’s hearts to give hope, love and joy.

My art spreads positive impressions to people in different ways, like internet or by mouth. Currently it is being used to financially help African orphans, homeless people on the streets, to bring hope into prisons, multimedia missions, and calendars in the United States and South Korea.

Second, my art is a performance as I paint live in front of the public. I finish almost 90% of my painting in a live worship setting, a conference, or with music on the street in front of people, not in a private secluded artist’s studio. When I paint in public, I deliver a message through live painting to the audience. As I fill a blank canvas with images and colors, people’s hearts and minds open and they communicate between the visual image and their emotions.
Third, I believe that my paintings have their own duty to people. My images bring hope, love, joy, and healing or spiritual cleansing to whoever looks at them. They are basically my children. Whether it’s an original painting or a print, I expect it to fulfill that duty wherever it is distributed, whether it’s in a bookstore or in people’s homes.

In this generation, a visual image is much more powerful than it was in previous generations. I dream about my art being and bring luminosity into the darkness throughout my life. This is why I paint.
